A Note from Bernie's Wife

On the night of October 2, our family's life changed in an instant. Bernie was involved in a devastating four-wheeler accident that left him with life-threatening injuries. While we are incredibly grateful that he is still here with us, we know we may have a long and difficult road ahead.

Service has been a major part of my life. I served as a military police officer in the U.S. Army from 2006 to 2008, including a deployment to Iraq, and later continued serving in the California Army National Guard from 2010 to 2016. Today, I continue that commitment to service with the Vacaville Police Department, where I serve as a corporal.

Bernie's life has followed a different path, but it has been defined by the same dedication and perseverance. From riding his bike to the airport as a young boy to becoming an accomplished pilot and aircraft restoration expert, Bernie has spent his life chasing his dreams, working hard, and helping others along the way.

But beyond everything he has accomplished, nothing means more to Bernie than his family. To us, he is a loving father, a devoted husband, and the person our family looks to with love and admiration. Our seven-year-old son, Donovan, looks up to his dad, and we are so grateful to have Bernie in our lives.

Right now, there are so many unknowns. We are taking each day as it comes, focusing on Bernie's recovery and being grateful for every moment we have together.

To our friends, family, aviation community, law enforcement community, military family, and everyone who has surrounded us with love, prayers, and support, thank you. Your kindness means more to our family than we could ever put into words.

We don't know exactly what the road ahead will look like, but anyone who knows Bernie knows one thing: he doesn't give up easily.

With love and gratitude,

Abbigail Isenhour-Vasquez & Family
